Topic: Micro/nano robots for cell/drug delivery and treatment of vascular diseases

I will present the recent research progress in my lab on using magnetic swimming micro and nanorobots for biosensing and active delivery, respectively, from the design, functionalization and remote control, to perspective of using these small agents for biomedical applications in vitro and in vivo.

    Hongsoo Choi
    Professor, Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science & Technology

    Hongsoo Choi is a Professor & Chair in the Department of Robotics Engineering at the Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science & Technology (DGIST). He is also the Director at the Center for Targeted Neural Networks Reconstruction of the National Science Challenge Initiatives and CoDirector of DGIST‐ETH Microrobotics Research Center at DGIST.

    He has been a Founder and technical advisor of ImSystems since 2019. He received several awards, including the Prime Minister’s Commendation for Science, Information and Communication Day of Korea in 2020, the National Intellectual Property Award (Co-chairman’s award) by the Presidential Council on Intellectual Property of Korea in 2019, and the Prize of the State of Geneva at the 47th International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva, Switzerland in 2019. He received his M.S. (2003) and Ph.D. (2007) degrees from the School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering at Washington State University, United States. His research interest includes micro/nanorobotic system, neural engineering, magnetic field generating (MFG) systems, BioMEMS, piezoelectric MEMS devices, and biochip for biomedical applications.
